Entry for the 3rd Blackthornprod Game Jam! Blazing Duel is a sword fighting game inspired by the theme: "less attacks - more damage"! Fight a powerful opponent on shrinking platforms and try not to fall into lava!
A/D or arrow keys to move
Space to jump
LMB to attack
RMB to parry
Here's a quick overview of the mechanics in case if the game is too confusing.
Parry enemy attacks to gain attack points.
Attack points empower your next attack.
The enemy can parry you as well. If he parries you when you have no attack points, you get stunned.
By attacking and parrying, you can deplete the enemy stamina. When out of stamina, the enemy is stunned and left open for attacks. Attacking the enemy while he's stunned also heals you.
Resource management is key. Decide whether you want to use your empowered attack to deplete stamine quicker or deal more damage. The arenas are constantly shrinking, so you need to kill the enemy ASAP.
Develop a strategy, learn the moveset and overcome your opponent!

Great idea, but there is ZERO telegraphing of the attacks, so the strat is to just spam m1 hoping you block by accident

HOW DO YOU BLOCK/PARRY THE GUYS FIREBALLS WHEN JUMPING FROM PLATFORM TO PLATFORM TRYING NOT TO LET THE LAVA CHASING YOU TO CATCH UP?
So much polish! One thing, are you supposed to be able to jump right to the final boss?
ok, so, a problem I've had is that Im parrying right when the first guy is swinging his sword, and I'm rapidly clicking right mouse while I get killed, but Im right clicking while he's swinging his sword, am I not doing it correctly or?
Now I know the problem, the ai is TO SMART, Its going into where I CANT parry it.
amazing looks and every hit feels crunchy. I however do find this to be kinda hard but that also just might be my incompitence in gaming. I can also clearly see you implemented the theme in the design which I adore.

Yeah, I should've made the game easier for the jam. As for the lack of music, I tried to make some, but I'm absolutely terrible at making music and couldn't make anything decent on time. Still, glad you like it!
Looks super nice and the music fits. The controls are a bit difficult especially combat. Your page here is looking good. However I think the game does not fit to the jam theme. Nevertheless a cool game :)

im a wiener. finally beat it. very difficult with the boss either pushing you in lava or shooting projectiles while you're midair.
Good game. I hope this becomes a full fledged game. Keep it up.

Game is awesome looking and everything. Maybe I suck at it so much but I can't defeat the boss. but very good job
game looks really nice, as first I was confused but after realising some things it went easy (but the boss is still hard tho).
hope the game still will be developed in some ways and you will gain progress and motivation to do more projects
